The Difference Between Cement Foundation Ground Project and Ground Screws Ground Project

2023-10-27

Double-post Ground Screws

The height of ground screw exposed to the ground is 100~300mm, usually 200mm

Double-post Cement Foundation

Cement foundations are used in sites that are not suitable for piling

Difference

Ground screws are suitable for most soil grounds, but not suitable for insufficient bearing capacity soil grounds (such as backfill soil) and those grounds with too many obstacles underneath (obstacles such as tree roots and stones.)

Cement piers are suitable for most of the ground. The requirements for the type of ground are small. The cement piers can be placed on the ground or can be pre-buried in the ground to increase the bearing capacity.

Installation

Ground screws are easy to install and can be installed at the same time as the brackets installation; and the flange of the ground screws is designed with long holes, which can better accept installation errors. The installation period of ground screw is short, but auxiliary equipment is required for piling.

Cement piers need to be poured in advance, and the installation can start only after the cement piers have hardened to the strength. The construction period of the cement pier is long and the size of the prefabricated cement pier needs to be calculated according to the strength. The precision requirements of the pre-embedded bolts of the cement pier are relatively high.

Price

Generally speaking, ground screw will be a little cheaper than cement piers, and the price of cement piers varies from country to country.

Conclusion

Currently, ground screw is used on most of ground project.

In all, each option has its pros and cons. Just make the appropriate choice according to the characteristics of the project.
